I'm Timo
Mäntymaa born 1965. As seven years old I started handwork
"for real". My material stores were litterbins of local metal workshops.
Of these pieces I made my own ideas to concrete products by fileing,
sawing, drilling however. For instance I made my
first revolver (cal 22) when I was twelve years old.
After
school I worked as a mechanic for 12 years, this way I could process
more technical ideas which I could put into effect with workshop's
machines in the evenings.
1994 I decided to put up my own private business, because I had to
choose between "normal work" and with my handwork passion. I have
always wanted to find the beautiful things hiding inside of different
materials. I'm looking after them in Ypäjä in my old cowhouse
in which I have machine workshop and two smitherys (japanese and
traditional).
Products
which I make are 100% one man handwork with traditional approach,
tribute to tradition. I make all the products according to the customers
wishes and needs.
I do also restorations of old items.
